Schedule & Format
1 / Season & Events
The season runs fall through spring. Oahu hosts about 11 events; each neighbor island runs about 5. Events typically start around 8am. The 2026-27 season opener is set for Ala Moana Bowls, Oahu, on September 12-13, 2026.
2 / Format & Scoring
HIC PRIME events use LiveHeats for live scoring and carry double points toward the season standings. Heats typically run 5 surfers, with the top seed earning an automatic berth in the final. Judging follows the ISA Rulebook statewide, except on Maui, where events are judged under the WSL Rulebook.
3 / State Championship
The season wraps with the State Championship at Ala Moana Bowls on Oahu, bringing together qualifiers from all four chapters. Placement is based on points earned across the season's HIC PRIME events.
Getting There
1 / Check-In Times
Check-in times vary by chapter and are posted with each event listing. Maui events check in at 6:30am for a 7am start at Kahului Harbor; on Oahu, plan to arrive at least an hour before the first heat to confirm your division and check in at the event tent.
2 / Parking
HSA doesn't publish official parking details for every venue, so check your event listing for site-specific notes. Coastal lots at popular spots like Ala Moana Bowls and Haleiwa fill up fast on contest mornings, so plan to arrive early and be ready to walk from nearby street parking.
3 / Registration
Pre-register through your chapter before the deadline, usually about 10 days before the event or when the field fills up. Some events hold a limited number of beach-day entries if spots remain, but pre-registering is the only way to guarantee your spot.
