Da Hui Backdoor Shootout Spectator Guide

The Da Hui Backdoor Shootout is a team event at Pipeline and Backdoor run by Da Hui (Hui O Heʻe Nalu). Invited surfers compete in teams, and it is one of the most local events of the North Shore winter.

• Waiting period: January 4–16, 2027 (North Shore Chamber calendar). Official dates have not been announced yet.

• Venue: Pipeline and Backdoor, ʻEhukai Beach Park, North Shore Oʻahu

• Entry: invitation only, surfing in teams of five

• Divisions: reports from recent years list shortboard, longboard and SUP

Last year

The 2026 Shootout ran January 7–18 and finished with an expression session of about 40 surfers instead of team awards.
