Aloha and welcome to Support Local Surfing: surf news, guidance and community for Hawaiʻi's amateur surf contests.

If you've ever tried to figure out when the next contest is, which division your grom belongs in, or how sign-ups actually work, you know the info is scattered. It's on Instagram posts, flyers, LiveHeats pages and word of mouth at the beach. Support Local Surfing pulls it together in one place, in plain English, for surfers and families on every island.

Surf news

Contest announcements, date changes, postponements and results from around the islands. When a chapter posts a new contest, a change of venue or a backup date, we turn it into a clear post and update the calendar.

Why we started it

Support Local Surfing was started by a Hawaiʻi surf parent and longtime contest judge who saw how many families miss out simply because they couldn't find the information. Competitive surfing is where a lot of our kids learn discipline, sportsmanship and respect in the water. The easier it is to get to the beach, the more kids get that chance.

We're independent. We're not part of HSA, NSSA or the WSL. We link to the official sources for sign-ups and rules, and we always point you back to the organizers for the final word.
