The Oahu Interscholastic Association held its first-ever high school surfing contest on March 9, 2026 at Ala Moana Bowls, marking a major step in the sport's rollout across Oahu's public and private high schools. The event featured six divisions and drew competitors representing schools from across the island.

The contest set the stage for the OIA championship and, ultimately, Hawaii's first statewide HHSAA surfing championship later that season. Organizers say the format will expand in future seasons as more schools add surfing programs.
